The
MacCallum House Inn is a beautiful historic landmark located in the heart of Mendocino Village. The Victorian mansion was built in 1882 by William H. Kelley as a wedding gift to his daughter.  Rooms include a full breakfast in their formal dining room and a complimentary wine hour featuring wines from throughout the California wine country.

Day 1- Shopping in Mendocino

he Mendocino Art Center- features a wide variety of art from local artists and members of MAC.  This center is a haven for artists of all levels to get away and allow their creativity to flow.   Artists who travel here are allowed to stay in apartments on the premises and create art for your enjoyment. You will get the chance to see and purchase their work, possibly even meet the person who created it!

Panache Gallery actually has two locations within Mendocino Village.  One is on Main Street and the other on Kasten Street.  Both locations feature sculpture, art glass, jewelry, furniture, paintings and decorative wood pieces.

At
Sallie Mac you’ll find gifts for everyone on your list.  Choose from bath & body products, imported glass and pottery, one of a kind vintage accent pieces from the European countryside.

The
Gallery Bookshop has been a Mendocino landmark since 1962. They have an outstanding selection of books, with a beautiful view of the ocean to boot.  Next door you’ll find Bookwinkle’s Children’s bookstore, and addition to the original Gallery Bookshop. If you have trouble finding a gift, or a particular book, feel free to ask the staff.  They have a strong commitment to the “no pointing rule”- they actually walk to the shelves with you and make suggestions!

Fetzer Tasting Room- MacCallum House Inn offers a special VIP pass to the Fetzer tasting room in the Mendocino Village.  This pass entitles you to 20% off all merchandise and a generous tasting. This is a great place to find gifts and souvenirs for the wine lovers on your list.

After a full day of shopping, treat yourself to a delicious dinner at
Stevenswood Lodge.  At this restaurant, located in the lodge, you will be surrounded by forest, warmed by the glow of the fireplace, and cradled by comfortable armchairs, as you savor Chef Mark Dym’s fabulous dishes, inspired by Mendocino’s bountiful local food supply.

Day 2-Shopping in Fort Bragg

Enjoy another gourmet breakfast at the MacCallum House, and prepare to head north where you’ll find more shopping adventures.

Drive north on Highway One, past the town of Fort Bragg to
Pacific Star Winery.  Winemaker Sally Ottoson has been making wine for more than 20 years. Be sure to try her fabulous Sparkling Wines which will help bubble-up your morning.  A few bottles will make great gifts for all of your holiday occasions.

Grab some lunch on the way back to Fort Bragg on Highway one, at One Café- the locals favorite diner! The restaurant features organic and healthy ingredients, and serves many meals family style.

In Fort Bragg, be sure to seek out the following stops: 

Mendocino Chocolate Company- featuring some of the sweetest works of art in the county! Try to choose from mouthwatering truffles, nuts & chews and specialty items. You can even get corporate logo boxes for business gifts.

Erin Dertner Gallery-  A local artist inspired by seascapes who creates beautiful watercolor paintings. A great place to get see the surrounding beauty through local eyes.

Wind & Weather- be sure to check out their store on Laurel Street, and the outlet store on Main Street.  You’ll find weather instruments and gifts for the home and garden.

Family Hands- unique furnishings and accents for your home, or someone else’s.

On Laurel Street in Fort Bragg you will find a host of boutique shopping and fine art galleries, coffee houses and brew pubs.

After two full days of shopping, you may want to head back to Mendocino and enjoy a massage at the
Sweetwater Spa and Inn.  They have maintained one of the premier massage staffs in Northern California for 13 years.

Return to MacCallum House Inn and prepare for a fantastic finale to your shopping excursion at the MacCallum House Restaurant.  Chef & Owner Alan Kantor specializes in regional North Coast wines, seafood meats and produce.  Try the Smoked Rosie Organic Chicken Calzone or the Liberty Farm Duck Confit.  Sweeten the deal with a Banana Split or a MacHouse Sundae- a dark chocolate fudge brownie topped with vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate sauce and a praline cookie.  Now that’s a sweet way to end a shopping trip!
